Former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) spokesperson Brown Mpinganjira has congratulated Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa for successfully defending his PhD thesis.
Yesterday social media was awash with reports that Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice President for the South has finished his studies with The Antilatic International University where he was studying International Relations.
The development means that Nankhumwa will now be called Dr. Nankhumwa and the move has attracted mixed reactions with many accusing him of buying the PhD.
Despite the attacks Mpinganjira has taken a bold step to congratulate Nankhumwa who is aspiring for Presidency in DPP.
“The MP of my Constituency Kondwani George Malemia Nankhumwa has obtained a PhD. Mulanje Central yadara ! Congratulations to the Leader of Opposition Hon Dr Nankhumwa. Arise and Shine! For your light has come!! Let it shine ! Let it Shine ! Let it shine Boy,” wrote Mpinganjira.
Nankhumwa’s PhD controversy comes in amid tension over the appointment of Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) Chief Executive Officer Henry Kachaje.
Kachaje is accused of not having a Master’s Degree as required for his post.
