Standard Bank Zomba Branch staff member Sam Banda has died at Zomba Central Hospital after ingesting poison, faceofmalawi can reveal.
This publication on Sunday carried a story on the same indicating that the staff member is admitted at Zomba hospital after attempting to commit suicide over unsettled loans.
It is said that the deceased tied a knot to his long time sweetheart in 2020 in a lavish wedding and the money used on the wedding was borrowed.
“Zomba Standard Bank Staff attempted suicide ali mu ICU at Zomba Central Hospital. Anamwa Mankhwala amutomato ali kwa makolo ake ku Chinamwali.
“What I know ali ndi ngongole about Mk5 million which was used during his wedding last year when he was volunteer ku NICE ndiye creditors have been on his neck,” reads in part the statement released by an eyewitness.
Banda died this morning at Zomba Central Hospital.
“M’modzi mwa akuluakulu amene amagwira ntchito Ku Standard Bank ku Zomba a Sam Banda, amwalira lero m’bandakuchaku atakhala mchipatala kwa sabata imodzi pomwe adayesera kuchotsa moyo wawo.
“Malemuwa, masiku apitawo adamwa mankhwala othila mbewu ya tomato kuti achotse moyo wawo kamba koti anali ndi ngongole yothamangira 5 million kwacha yomwe adagwiritsa ntchito pa ukwati wawo omwe udachitika chaka chatha,” wrote an eye witness.
Funeral details are still sketchy at the moment.
