Police in Mulanje District have arrested a 23-year-old man James Chakwana and recovered a rifle from him.

The operation took place on Tuesday, November 16, 2021.

According to Mulanje Police Spokesperson, Gresham Ngwira, the arrest follows cases of robberies police have been registering in the district.

“The latest incident occurred in the night of November 12, 2021 where criminals attacked a security guard at Milonde ADMARC Depot and went away with over K4 million and Mk4 rifle,” said Ngwira.

The suspect was arrested at his home village of Mothiwa in the area of Senior Chief Mabuka in Mulanje.

He is expected to appear in court soon after police are done with the investigations.
