The Public Appointments Committee of Parliament (PAC) has confirmed receiving a resignation letter from one of the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) board member Pempho Likongwe.
But PAC Chairperson Joyce Chitsulo has declined to comment further on the matter.
Likongwe reveals he confided to one of the candidates, Richard Chapweteka, who was interviewed for the MERA CEO post, that he would not be successful.
He added that he advised Chapweteka not to turn down the MEC Commissioner appointment to avoid embarrassing the appointing authority.
Likongwe said he regrets his conduct hence the resignation.
