Former United Transformation Movement (UTM) Director of Youth Bon Kalindo has said his planned demonstrations slated for November 19, 2021 in Blantyre will still take place.
Kalindo was speaking in Blantyre during a press conference he held this morning.
Yesterday, UTM’s spokesperson Frank Mwenifumbo called on Kalindo not to rush into going to the streets, instead he should pave way for dialogue with those in authority over his concerns.
Responding to the calls, Kalindo made it clear that negotiating with the government cannot work at this time.
Among other reasons, Kalindo is demanding the Tonse Alliance government to fulfill its campaign promises which include; creation of one million jobs and he is also calling government to come up with possible solutions to the hardships Malawians are facing due to the hiking in prices of basic needs like; water, cooking oil and fuel.
He further said that he thinks the demonstrations will bring about change giving an example of the Tonse Alliance which got to power through the same demos.
Kalindo who is currently addressing the press has since warned those in higher positions never to underestimate the power of demonstrations as they are capable of bringing about change.
