A 25-year-old woman was allegedly raped and murdered by her father as she got married to a man from another caste. The accused was allegedly upset over the woman’s choice. The incident took place when the woman had gone to a forest on the outskirts of the city to bury her deceased baby.
Bhopal city superintendent of police Umesh Tiwari said that the accused left the bodies in the forest. Nine days later, on November 14, the police found bodies after they were alerted by a forest guard.
Initially, the cops approached the incident as a murder case. However, they started probing other angles when the autopsy revealed that the woman had been raped and strangled.
Following this, the accused was booked for murder and rape while his 23-year-old son was charged for murder conspiracy. Reportedly, the accused told his son before the alleged murder, Hindustan Times reported.
Tiwari said, “During interrogation, the father said he was looking for a chance to kill his daughter and when she contacted him, he couldn’t control his anger. ” The accused allegedly said that villagers used to mock him and many relatives stopped inviting his family over because of his daughter’s inter-caste marriage. ”
Tiwari said that the accused had broken all ties with the woman after her marriage but she approached him after her infant’s death
