A shop owner, 32-year-old Philemon Jailosi has been fined K250,000 in default serve an eight-month jail term for being found in possession of pirated music in Mwanza.
Mwanza Senior Resident Magistrate Court convicted Jailos for possession and distribution of the said materials contrary to the countrycopyrightght law.
Deputy Police spokesperson for Mwanza, Hope Kasakula, confirmed the development and said Jailosi was arrested in a sweeping exercise police and copyright society of Malawi officials conducted in the district.
Philimon jailos hails from Nachikunja village T/A Kaphuka in Dedza.
