Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has spoken against plans to disrupt peaceful demonstrations organized by former United Transformation Movement (UTM) National Youth Director Bon Kalindo slated for this coming Friday.

The call comes barely hours after the fracas in Limbe where some vendors marched to show their anger over the planned demonstrations.

The disgruntled vendors clashed with some supporters who are in favour of demonstrations over rising cost of living in the country.

Speaking in an interview with the press DPP spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba called upon Malawians who have been affected by the rising prices of essential goods and services to voice out to the governing authorities.

“The DPP position is that of promotion of freedoms and civil liberties of all citizens of Malawi to the extent therefore of supporting peaceful demonstrations. Our advice is that the demos must be peaceful. Property and life should be preserved,” said Namalomba.

Meanwhile the peaceful demonstrations are on tomorrow in Blantyre.
