Vice President Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima has arrived this evening in Cairo, Egypt ahead of the 21st Common Market for the Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Summit slated for Tuesday, November 23.
His arrival in Cairo comes after leading Malawi’s delegation at the Dubai Expo 2020 in the United Arab Emirates.
Arriving through Cairo International Airport, the Vice President was welcomed by Malawi’s Ambassador to Egypt, Caroline Bwanali, Principal Secretary in the Office of the Vice President, Wezi Kayira, and other top Egyptian Government officials.
The COMESA Summit is themed: ‘Building Resilience Through Strategic Digital Economic Integration.”
The theme was motivated by emerging regional and global economic and trade dynamics in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has heavily impacted the COMESA region’s integration agenda.
