Presidential Advisor on Youth and Arts Lucius Banda who is also United Transformation Movement (UTM) Campaign Director has backed Tonse Alliance, saying its not possible for President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to fix the economy in just a year.
Banda said this in a video clip posted on his official facebook with a caption “Mvula yeniyeni imabwera mu December.”
In the video clip, Banda said that the rise in prices is a global phenomenon due to Covid-19 and people should stop pressurizing Chakwera over the matter.
“I was in South Africa two weeks ago, I asked my wife to get us a few toiletries. She returned with the money saying things had gone up,” said Banda.
Turning to the recent demonstrations, Banda urged Malawians not to rise up.
“When things are bad in this country, you hear from church leaders and Lucius Banda releases a song to complain. I have not, and the churches are quiet,” said Banda.
Banda went further attributed the challenges rocking the country to former President Peter Mutharika, saying his administration looted the country’s economy.
