A son in Nsanje has allegedly hacked his father aged 80, to death, for reasons bordering on witchcraft claims.

Nsanje police spokesperson, Sub Inspector, Agnes Zalakoma, has identified the father as Helson Cholomali, who died this morning at Trinity Mission Hospital in the district where he was receiving medical attention.

Sub Inspector Zalakoma, says the old man was with his wife at his house last night at Kandodo village in the area of Traditional Authority Mlolo, then his son hacked him in the head twice with a machete before fleeing.

The incident comes barely three weeks after a traditional leader in the area, Group Village Namanya, also died after he was stabbed by a man identified as Yanjanani Makwenemba, who was later killed by a mob.
