President Lazarus Chakwera and his Mozambican counterpart President Filipe Nyusi are holding joint press briefing at Kamuzu Palace in the capital Lilongwe.
Nyusi and his wife came in Malawi on Monday for a three day visit.
Yesterday, Chakwera and Nyusi launched a Malawi-Mozambique (MAMO) Power Transmission Interconnector Project in Balaka, at Phombeya Substation.
A communique by the two leaders indicates that they have signed Memorandum of Understanding on mining aimed at supporting growth of the sector.
The two leaders have also agreed to strengthen the standing cordial relationship for the betterment of the both nations.
In his remarks, Chakwera says President Nyusi’s visit to Malawi speaks volumes on how the two countries enjoy their ties.
Chakwera then hailed Nyusi for the remarkable MOU signed that will help in improving country’s social economic development.
On the power interconnection project, Chakwera says this will highly help the two countries to achieve some goals such as on industrialization pillar in the vision 2063.
Nyusi says they had fruitful discussions as they have decided to move forward with the power interconnection that will help the countries to be fully connected.
After the press briefing, he is expected to return to Mozambique today.
