The high court sitting in Lilongwe will tomorrow 25 November 2021 hear an application by the Office of Ombudsman to vacate injunction obtained by the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA), says Ombudsman Grace Malera.
MERA obtained the injunction on 10 November 2021 stopping the Ombudsman from releasing findings of an investigation into the recruitment of Mera Chief Executive Officer, Henry Kachaje.
The injunction was served in the midst of a press briefing where Malera was about to read out the contents of the report.
Malera’s report on the recruitments disclosed that Kachaje was appointed on the post when he did not have the required qualification of a master’s degree.
