A magistrate court in Dowa has sent to jail two Rwandan nationals for four years for robbing a Malawian, mobile phone valued at k9000 and cash amounting to k6000.

State Prosecutor Sub-inspector Ezara Bakili told the court that Niyangulu Fulosiyano, 21 and Shimilimana Bosco, 21 robbed Masongola Frank of Chimanga Village, Tradional Authority (T/A) Msakambewa on his way from Dzaleka Refugee Camp where he went to watch a football match.

The two pleaded not guilty to the charges and the state paraded four witnesses.

First Grade Magistrate Amran Phiri hopes the four year jail term is stiff enough to deter other would-be offenders.
