Leader of Malawi Sali Bwino demonstrations Bon Kalindo has agreed to meet government over its plans to engage organizers of anti-government protests in the country.
In a voice note making rounds on social media, Kalindo said he agreed to meet government because the reason he has been holding demonstrations is to force government to address socio economic challenges rocking the country.
According to Kalindo, denying to meet government will only show that they have a hidden agenda and not fighting for the course of Malawians as he has been claiming, hence a move to open to dialogue.
“I would like to let you know that, government has called organizers of Anti-government demonstrations to have a dialogue. As you are already aware that we have been demonstrating starting from Blantyre, Lilongwe and this week will be in Mzuzu with an aim of forcing government to address the challenges that Malawians are facing,”
“Now the same government that we were demonstrating against has invited us to have a dialogue. I as Bon Kalindo and my friends who re representing Malawians we saw it wise to accept government’s request to have a conversation because it is the same government that we want to change things for us.” Said Kalindo.
Kalindo was however quick to say that his decision to agree to meet government does not mean that he will be sold out.
“I would like to assure you, do not be disappointed, and don’t think that I will receive money, you know me better than that. But we want to hear them out and see how government is planning to address the challenges we presented to them,” he said.
According to Kalindo if their demands are not met, they will not relent but rather to flood the streets of the country demonstrating against government until their demands are met.
Yesterday, government spokesperson Gospel Kazako revealed that government is planning on meeting people who are leading demonstrations in the country as they are not satisfied with the way government is running its affairs.
