Gotan Hara Dismisses Allegations that Parliament Secretariat Hijacked Interest Bill

Speaker of parliament Catherine Gotani Hara dismissed claims that parliament secretariat hijacked the interest capping bill, as accused by Mangochi West Parliamentarian Shadreck Namalomba.

Addressing parliment today, Gotani Hara further said Dowa West Legislator Abel Kayembe complied and met all requirements and that Namalomba did not respond to efforts by the secretariat to get his response in drafting the private member’s bill.

Kayembe’s justification was that the bill was in the previous term initiated in the previous term by his predecessor Alexander Kusamba Dzonzi.

This is a bill which will free Malawians from paying exorbitant interests on loans obtained from banks and other lending institutions.
