The Malawi Law Society has warned government officials against interfering with ACB in the ongoing investigations against businessman Zuneth Sattar.
This is contained in a statement signed by Patrick Mpaka and Chrispin Ngunde President and Secretary of the Law Society.
According to the statement the Malawi Law Society has information that some state actors and individuals are attempting to influence or mislead the Anti Corruption Bureau on how it should conduct it’s investigations against Sattar.
The Law Society says any office holder present and past interfering with the bureau is against the rule of law.
The Law Society has also called on duty bearers who are responsible in managing the investigations to accord the ACB full and genuine cooperation inline with the authority and autonomy of the ACB.
Sattar and his colleague Ashik Nair are being investigated over the award of multi-million dollar public contracts to his firm.
