Nankhumwa said this during the adjournment of Parliament in the capital Lilongwe.
In his speech Nankhumwa wondered as to why President Lazarus Chakwera has been attributing social economic challenges affecting the country to global trends arguing that some simply require his attention.
He said suspension of public engagements by the President is action coming in too little, too late.
Nankhumwa wondered as to when the President realised that some assignments could be done by Ministers and other government officials.
“Malawians have missed Canaan with a million miles,” said Nankhumwa, pointing at the rising cost of basic commodities as a sign.
He said there is no free connection of electricity and water as promised.
