The Catholic Church, through the Archdiocese of Blantyre, has asked the Tonse Alliance-led administration to listen to grievances Malawians are expressing and address them.
Blantyre Archdiocese Archbishop, Thomas Msusa, made the remarks during a celebration for the archdiocese’s patron Holy Mary in Blantyre on Sunday.
Msusa said ignoring the grievances and hoping they will solve themselves will not help the country.
On the issue of toll gate fees, for example, the archbishop said government should have started with lower fees before increasing them slowly once people start seeing the fruits.
Msusa’s call comes barely days after Bon Kalindo, former United Transformation Movement (UTM) held successful demonstrations in all major cities in the country.
Kalindo wants the Tonse Alliance to fulfill some of the campaign promises and reduce tollgate fees.
