Police in Mangochi district are keeping in custody a man suspected to have stabbed a fellow person with a panga Knife at a drinking joint in the district.
The incident happened yesterday at Kanyenga Village, Traditional Authority Nankumba in Mangochi.
A spokesperson for Mangochi Police Station Amina Tepan Daudi has identified the suspect as Timothy Mulewa, 45, and the victim as Batson Champion, 32.
It is reported that the suspect snatched a panga Knife from the victim for unknown reasons, of which misunderstandings erupted and then Mulewa hacked the fellow on the right hand with the same panga Knife and was rushed to Koche Health Centre where he has been pronounced dead upon loss of blood.
The suspect will appear before court soon to answer the murder charge which contravenes section 209 of the Penal Code.
Timothy Mulewa comes from Mpaniha Village, Traditional Authority Nkhumba in Phalombe.
