Stakeholders in Chiradzulu have queried the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) criteria for the demarcation of constituencies and wards across the country.
Joseph Mwanamvekha, member of parliament for Chiradzulu South, said the exercise is ill-timed as it will create an unnecessary burden over an economy that is already weak.
While in agreement with Mwanamvekha, Joseph Nomale, member of Parliament for Chiradzulu East , further said MEC should not only consider the the voters, but also people under an MP or the councilor.
But MEC Commissioner, Richard Chapweteka, said the commission is only following the dictations of the constitution.
