Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) has observed that Malawians have lost hope in the Tonse administration; arguing they are currently in a mood of hopelessness, loss of direction and betrayal.

This is in a four paged statement signed by the Commission’s national coordinator Boniface Chibwana titled: Heed the Cry of the People; The Call of Moses.

CCJP said the recent anti-government protests are just the beginning of people’s anger and sense of betrayal fueled by lack of decisive leadership.

Among others, CCJP has told the Tonse leadership to match its decorated local and international speeches with actions that would benefit Malawians.

The institution further tells the government to listen to the cries of the people most of whom it says have lost hope with the Tonse “campaign propaganda.”

It wants sanity at National Oil Company of Malawi  (NOCMA), Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) and proper management of drugs and Affordable Inputs Program (AIP).

But government has repeatedly called on the citizens to exercise patience; saying it is working on cushioning measures.
