20 police officers recently abducted by Boko Haram terrorists have been rescued by military troops, the Defense Headquarters (DHQ) said on Thursday, December 9, 2021.
The officers were kidnapped when the terrorists attacked Buni Yadi village in Gujba local government area of Yobe State over a week ago.
DHQ spokesperson, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko, announced on Thursday that they were rescued by troops, while giving a summary of operations over the past two weeks.
The operations in Adamawa and Borno led to the killing of 62 terrorists by Hadin Kai troops, who also arrested 28.
54 assorted arms, 144 rounds of different calibre of ammunition, and 101 rustled livestock were also recovered from the terrorists.
“Regrettably, our gallant officers and soldiers paid the supreme price,” Onyeuko said.
A total of 192 terrorists and their families also surrounded to troops over the past two weeks.
They were profiled and handed over to appropriate authorities, the military spokesperson said.
