Veteran musician Billy Kaunda who is also Member of Parliament for Mzimba West Constituency has distanced himself from a song circulating on the social media criticizing the Tonse Alliance government led by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his Vice Dr. Saulos Chilima.

‘Abwana Mumve’ hit song has taken the social media by storm as it is criticizing Tonse Alliance government for giving Malawians empty promises such as creating 1 million jobs, universal fertilizer subsidy, Cheap passport fees among others.

The song is currently being shared among Malawians with a caption ‘Abwana Mumve’ single by Billy Kaunda.

But ‘Pano Mpaweni’ hit-maker has denied owning the song, saying the song belongs to Clement Bokosi from Mangochi.

“There is a song, ‘Abwana Mumve’, circulating on the Social Media, allegedly sung by me. I wanted to say it was done by one Clement Bokosi from Mangochi.

“I have not released any song since my last album, ‘Hymns 2020,” wrote Kaunda on his official Facebook page.

The Tonse Alliance is facing backlash from Malawians over failure to fulfill some of the campaign promises.

The development has forced some Malawians led by former United Transformation Movement (UTM) National Youth Director Bon Kalindo to be holding demonstrations across the country.

On Thursday this week, Kalindo will be holding peaceful demonstrations in Zomba.
