Lolo Ward Councilor Syze Simeji has been elected as a new Mayor for Luchenza Municipality replacing Henderson Spoon in an election held at its Chamber on Tuesday.

The 43-year-old Simeji got four votes against Mary Mateyu and Grivin Namukupo who got three and one votes respectively.

On Deputy Mayor Position, Namadzi Ward Councilor Selina Bamusi went unopposed after Bertha Mphaya and Elliot Ndalama withdrew.

In his acceptance speech Simeji has promised a good working relationship with the administration so that the area should move further in terms of development.

“For the Municipality to succeed in development there is need for oneness and cooperation among the councilors, administrators and the people of Luchenza at large,” he said.

Luchenza Municipal Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Selina Chimphamba welcomed the new Mayor as well as his Deputy and vowed to work together as they work with the outgoing Mayor.
