Police in Ntcheu are keeping in custody two men for being found in possession of Indian Hemp (cannabis sativa).

Ntcheu police spokesperson Rabecca Kwisongole has identified as Davie Elijah, 27 and Junior Saona 21.

Kwisongole added that the suspects were arrested on Sunday at Sharpevalley Roadblock at around 19 hours.

“While searching a minibus police officers discovered some travelling bags that had been stuffed with the Indian hemp, consequently leading to the arrest of the purported owners,” she said.

The two will appear in court soon to answer charges of being found in possession of Indian hemp contrary to Regulations 19(1) of Dangerous Drug Act.

Elijah and Saona hail from Blantyre and Mulanje respectively.
