The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Regional Governor for the Southern Region, Charles Mchacha has faulted the Covid-19 Presidential Taskforce on Covid -19 for the new measures announced following the rising cases, arguing they are targeted at their joint rally.

Mchacha made the remarks during a presser at Naperi ahead of a joint mega rally which DPP president Peter Mutharika and United Democratic Front (UDF) leader Atupele Muluzi are scheduled to conduct this coming Sunday at Njamba Freedom park in Blantyre.

According to Mchacha, they will proceed with their rally because Malawi Congress Party (MCP) held a similar rally last weekend.

However, the Taskforce has made another announcement to the effect that the new restrictions will only be implemented from Monday.
