ZAMBIA; a member of the central committee in charge of information and publicity in the former president Edgar Lungu’s party Patriotic Front (PF) Raphael Nakachinda has been arrested for defaming president Hakainde Hichilema.

Nakachinda was arrested by Zambian police following a statement he released claiming that President Hichilema has been summoning judges in the night at his community house.

Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed of Nakachinda’s arrest.

According to Mwale, Nakachinda was cautioned and warned  him as the police recorded a statement from him.

Mwale, added that what Nakachinda did, defaming the president, is contrary to section 69 of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale said in a statement that Mr Nakachinda been warned and cautioned for the offence of Defamation of the President contrary to section 69 of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

“This in regard to the statement he issued at High Court grounds on December 13, 2021 and the interview he had on one of the radio stations in Lusaka,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nakachinda has been charged and released on bail.
