Lawyer representing Abdul Karim Batatawala has accused the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of dumping his client in a police of instead of interrogating him.
Alexious Nampota, said his client was arrested on Wednesday at 12 noon and instead of questioning him, the bureau kept him for 5hrs and later “dumped” him in a police cell at 5 pm.
Nampota said his client has major health problems which include heart and blood pressure which he claim resurfaced when he was in a police cell.
He further until midday today, the bureau had not recorded a caution statement from Batatawala which triggered the existing health conditions and got worse while in a police cell.
Meanwhile, Nampota has said Batatawala has been hospitalized following doctors’ advice.
