The Centre for Democracy Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has written vice president Saulos Chilima over campaign promise that no student will drop out of school for lacking school fees.

CDEDI Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa also reminded Chilima of the promise he made that he will work towards ending corruption in the country once voted into power.

In the later dated December 16, 2021, signed by Namiwa said that there are a lot of students in the country’s colleges and Universities who are at verge of dropping out because of lack of school fees which is high.

According to Namiwa, Chilima’s silence is suspicious especially on the issue of corruption which has gone deep in the country considering that he was on the forefront in accusing the Democratic Progressive party (DPP) leadership of being looted in corruption.

Pilirani Phiri, Chilima’s spokesperson, said the letter has been received and seen adding that answers will be given in due course.

Prior to June 23, 2020 fresh presidential elections, Chilima said the Tonse Alliance government will not tolerate any acts of corruption warning that if anyone will be involved in corruption activities will be dealt with accordingly.
