Gift Desire Nyirenda elected as new Mayor for Mzuzu City

Gift Desire Nyirenda has been elected mayor for Mzuzu City council after beating the incumbent Kondwani Brian Nyasulu of United Transformation Movement (UTM).

The polls follow the expiry of mayoral term for the current leadership which is two and a half years.

Nyirenda has amassed eleven votes out of the sixteen votes that were cast.

Nyirenda was the deputy mayor for the council and he has replaced his boss on the post.
