The Senior Resident Magistrate Court in Blantyre is today scheduled to deliver a ruling on a bail application by businessman Abdul Karim Batatawala.

Batatawala was arrested last week and yesterday was charged with two counts of money laundering and defrauding the Department of Immigration Services.

The suspect later applied for bail which was objected by the state on grounds that the accused on the basis that he is a fright risk.

The development forced the president magistrate to reserve his ruling on the matter to today.

Batatawala alongside other three people are accused of money laundering and conspiring to defraud the Department of Immigration Services.
