A man of questionable sanity was recently arrested after he attempted to disarm a security guard at Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s house in Harare.
Seni Munyaradzi Musena of no fixed aboard was not asked to plead to attempted robbery when he appeared before magistrate Tafadzwa Miti on Monday.
The court heard that while Mandaza was doing his routine perimeter checks outside the yard armed with an AK47 assault rifle, he saw Musena walking along Hellensvale Drive towards the Vice President’s house.
Musena is alleged to have stopped suddenly in the middle of the road, prompting Mandaza to order t him to move on.
Instead of moving along, Musena is said to have leant against the precast wall to the Vice President’s house and told Mandaza that he wanted a cigarette.
Mandaza is further alleged to have asked Musena to leave but he refused. He started to wrestle with Mandaza and tried to disarm him. Mandaza is said to have called for reinforcement, which resulted in Musena being apprehended.

Magistrate Miti denied Musena bail and ordered him to be examined by two Government doctors to ascertain his mental status.
The State Media reports that Musena will remain in custody for psychiatric evaluation and will appear in court again on 7 January 2022.
