A total of 43 road accidents and 10 fatalities were recorded during this year’s Christmas holiday running from mid night of December 24 to mid-night of December 27, 2021.

Assistant National Police Spokesperson Inspector Felix Misomali has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

“The Malawi Police Service informs Malawians that a total of 43 road accidents and 10 fatalities were recorded during this year’s Christmas holiday running from mid night of December 24 to mid night of December 27, 2021.

“Last year (2020) during the same Christmas holiday, a total of 67 road accidents were recorded with 16 fatalities,” reads in part the statement.

He added: “The Service has intensified traffic checks, day and night traffic patrols and sensitisation meetings on road safety nets to further reduce road accidents in Malawi.”
