Vice president Saulos Chilima has mourned former first lady Anne Muluzi who passed away yesterday in India after battling cancer.

According to Chilima, with the passing of Anne, the ex-wife of Malawi’s former President Bakili Muluzi a dark cloud has fallen on the nation.

“I join the families in grief and a nation in mourning as we all pay tribute to the late Annie Chidzira Muluzi. I particularly extend my condolences to the former President His Excellency Dr. Bakili Muluzi and to my brother, Hon. Atupele Muluzi on your loss,” said Chilima.

He continued; “We shall always remember the late Annie Chidzira Muluzi for her generosity and charity work that made her reach out to thousands of needy and vulnerable children through her Freedom Foundation Trust.”

The vice president added that even in her death, late Anne’s humility and privacy is still teaching the nation something.

“Her generosity, standards, humility, integrity and the ability to embrace privacy will never be extinguished from our minds,” he said.

Chilima also said that Anne shall be remembered always.
