Police in Mponela, Dowa are keeping in custody a 38 year-old Masautso Patrick for attempted defilement.
The father to the victim narrates he was at his house and saw his daughter run in while naked.
Police reports indicates she wanted to put on another dress but the father asked her what had happened.
The victim revealed that the suspect who happens to be the father’s brother wanted to defile her in the garden.
He rushed to the garden where he also found that the suspect had also grabbed another girl who is also a friend to the victim.
He was arrested and taken to Mtengowanthenga Police Unit.
The suspect will appear before court soon to answer the charge of attempt defilement which contravenes section 138 of the penal code.
Masautso Patrick comes from Kayala Village, Traditional Authority Mponela in Dowa.
