Society of Medical Doctors says the number of daily COVID-19 cases is likely to increase now that the festive season has ended.
President of the Society Dr. Victor Mithi said current statistics show that cases have slightly dropped compared to mid-December when the fourth wave of the pandemic was announced in the country.
Dr. Mithi however said numbers could surge between mid and end January.
According to Ministry of Health the highest number of cases reported during the current wave was 1,265 on 24th December 2021.
