Former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is set to attend the burial of former first lady Anne Muluzi at Msinja, Malingunde.
The former First Lady died at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi in Kenya on Tuesday last week.
“The Office of The Former President would like to inform all Malawians and DPP Supporters that His Excellency the Former President l, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, who is also President of the Democratic Progressive Party, DPP, will on Wednesday, 6th January 2022, attend the burial of the Late Madame Anne Chidzira Muluzi, Former First Lady of the Republic of Malawi. Details of the Former President’s Programme will be announced later,” reads in part the statement.
Anne Muluzi’s body arrived in the countryon Tuesday through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA).
Former president Bakili Muluzi and his son, Atupele, former president Joyce Banda and First Lady Monica Chakwera welcomed the body.
The late Muluzi will be accorded burial with military honours and President Lazarus Chakwera is expected to attend the funeral service.
