The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has said it is still mourning the death of its vice president Sidik Mia who died last year due to Covid-19.

This was in response to when will the party fill the position of its vice president.

The party’s spokesperson Maurice Munthali said filling up the position is one of the agendas that will be discussed at the National Executive Committee (NEC).

However, it is not clear, as to when the NEC will meet.

He said during the NEC meeting, members will decide the replacement.

The position of MCP’s vice president for the South became vacant after the death of Sidik Mia. He succumbed to Covid-19 in January.

MCP was supposed to hold its NEC meeting last December, but it was postponed.
