Students at Kasungu secondary school on Friday went on hunger strike boycotting meals to force management improve diet.

The students said since they arrived at the campus they have been eating poorly cooked beans throughout and have not eaten vegetables despite a fee hike.

“Our fellow students with alcers do not eat beans and are given porridge which we feel this is unfair, said a student who opted for anonymity.

Head teacher for the school, Dorothy Masundi said the school has not been able to change diet with vegetables because supplier were yet to bring vegetables due to scarcity of the commodity.

She said management has agreed with prefects to alternate beans with soya pierces as a remedy as they scout for vegetables.
