GHANA – A self-acclaimed man of God identified as Kenneth Mensah of the Mega Word Chapel International has been reported to have set ablaze a congregant’s house after allegedly stealing 40k from her.

According to the victim, Rosemond Amoafo, she has been planning to travel to the United Kingdom to seek greener pastures when she was attacked by the man of God.

Joana Asare, the victim’s daughter, described how the cleric had become a friend to the family as a result of his regular visits to their home to spiritually prepare her for her journey.

Rosemond had discussed her plans to travel extensively with her extended family, according to her, and they had vowed to help her by agreeing to sell a store they owned. Joana claims that GHc40,000 was raised and delivered to Rosemond to prepare herself for her journey.

Rosemond was then persuaded by the pastor that her senior sister, Rebecca Amoafo, is a witch. He then warned her that she needed spiritual guidance on the money the family had given her, or she would not be able to reach her destination.

On January 10, Pastor Mensah slept over at Rosemond’s residence in Kwesibokro, a suburb of Asankragua.

The suspect gave her a mixture to drink and ordered her to recite certain words on the money on Tuesday. Joana Asare claimed that after consuming the remedy, her mother fell asleep.

The suspect is thought to have taken advantage of the opportunity to steal Rosemond’s GHc40,000. He reportedly also shut the door and set fire to the house.

The sufferer, however, was saved thanks to the National Fire Service’s quick response.

Meanwhile, Chief Superintendent Nana Kumi, the Asankragua Divisional Commander, said the suspect is presently on the run. He further stated that the Police Department will leave no stone unturned in their efforts to apprehend the suspect.

He also cautioned residents at Asankragua to be careful of false prophets and report any fouls means of any pastor.
