The Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has condemned the arrest of the organisers of the failed anti-government protest last week in Blantyre.
In a statement the party’s spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba states that the police conduct is against the constitution which provides for the freedom of assembly and demonstrations.
There has not been an immediate comment from the police on the matter but law enforcers who were on the ground during the failed demonstrations argued that the organisers had no permission to proceed with their demonstrations.
Meanwhile, Political activist Bon Kalindo has announced that the failed demonstrations will take place tomorrow.
