A man only identified as Pilirani Phiri, has committed suicide by taking poison at Katope Farm in the area of Traditional Authority Jalavikuwa in Mzimba.
Police Public relations officer for Rumphi police station Tupeliwe Kabwiro said the incident happened Tuesday,18 January 2022.
According to Kabwiro, Phiri’s colleague Matias Mbewe discovered him at his house in pain with poisonous substance aside.
He was later taken to Rumphi district hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
Postmortem conducted revealed that death was due to poisoning.
