South Africans looking to fly with Emirates will have to wait a while longer.

Emirates has extended a ban on outbound flights from South Africa to 31 January.

Flight Centre has confirmed to eNCA that it received a notice from the Dubai-based airline indicating flights will likely resume on 1 February.

This is the airline’s fourth extension in under a month.

Air travel from the country was slapped with several bans following the discovery of the Omicron variant in November 2021.

But many countries, including EU nations, the United States, the UK, and Canada, have dropped their bans.
