High Court Judge, Simeon Mdeza, has recused himself from presiding over a case on alleged corruption involving former Lands Minister, Kezzie Msukwa, Zunneth Sattar and his associate Ashock Noir.
The three were arrested by the country’s graft busting body Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal Registrar, Gladys Gondwe, says; “The Judge recused himself from the case and it is yet to be assigned to another one”.
It is not clear why judge Mdeza has decided to step aside but it must border on suspicions of conflict of interest.
It is also coming only days after ACB Director General, Martha Chizuma, made allegations of corruption against a sitting judge in a leaked audio conversation with her confidant.
