President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has warned newly sworn-in cabinet ministers against corruption.

Chakwera sounded the warning in Lilongwe during the swearing-in ceremony for the ministers.

In his speech Chakwera said corruption deters development hence the need to avoid it at all costs.

The Malawi leader then warned the ministers that if they do not follow the law in their operations, the law will follow them.

He said his office will not shield any minister who has been involved in corrupt practices.

During the ceremony, President Chakwera also challenged the newly sworn-in ministers to facilitate the change that the current administration promised.

Chakwera said this can only be achieved through hard work and dedication. He also reminded the ministers that they should work to the expectation of Malawians as they are the servants of the people.

The Malawi leader then encouraged the ministers not to undermine the people but rather use powers vested in them to improve their welfare.
