The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) has elected Archbishop George Tambala as its President taking over from Archbishop Thomas Msusa.

Tambala is Archbishop for Lilongwe Archdiocese while Msusa is Archbishop for Blantyre Archdiocese.

Bishop Montfort Stima of Mangochi diocese has been elected Vice ECM President, a position previously held by Bishop Martin Mtumbuka of Karonga diocese.

The elections took place during the bishops plenary that took place this week at the Catholic Secretariat in Lilongwe.
