A MARITAL dispute between two parents of Petauke in Zambia has left two of their children dead , while two others are battling for their lives in hospital after a ragging flood swept them off.
The mother is said to have taken her children in an effort to get away from her husband, but unfortunately for her, her escape has led to tragedy.
The two children, Cecilia Mwanza aged nine and Alex Mwanza aged six met their fate after their parents had a marital dispute.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said Daniel Mwanza aged 30 of Chivunga Village reported that after a marital dispute, his wife Esnart Banda got their four children and decided to go back to her parent’s home.
“Police received a report of drowning on February 5, which occurred at around 17:00 hours in Khola village of Chief Kalindawalo in Petauke District in which Daniel Mwanza of Chivunga Village Chief Kalindawalo in Petauke reported that his two children namely, Cecilia Mwanza and Alex Mwanza died after they were swept by ragging floods at Kang’ombe stream of Khola village,” he said.
Mr Hamoonga said on the way they failed to cross the stream causing her two children to be swept away by floods.
He said the deceased children met their fate leaving the other two children hospitalised together with the mother.
Mr Hamoonga said the bodies of the two deceased have since been deposited at Petauke district hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.
