Councillor for Chibanja Ward in Mzuzu Martha Jere has joined the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), a party in Tonse Alliance headed by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
The development comes barely two days after another councilor by the name of Gabriel Mwabungulu also defected to MCP.
Speaking to the press Jere said she wants to assist President Dr Lazarus Chakwera to develop Mzuzu City.
“I have joined MCP to assist in the development of the city. We have a lot of developmental needs in our ward,” said Jere.
Jere has been welcomed MCP’s Regional Chairman for the North, Joseph Chavula.
