Blantyre International University (BIU) Security Specialist Sherriff Kaisi has called on government to beef-up security for pubic officers who are committed in fighting corruption in the country.

The remarks follow the apparent murder of a Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) officer, Alinafe Bonongwe, who was found dead in his house on Friday.

The Dedza Station Manager, was known for his zeal to fight fraud including corruption and smuggling at the border, which saw him often receiving threats from frustrated individuals or gangs involved in the vice.

Kaisi, is of the view that such public officials need to be highly protected in order for them to work freely and safely.

Also weighing his views on the matter is a governance commentator, Mustapha Hussein, from the University of Malawi, who argues that the Dedza incident may hold back others who are against corruption, as they will fear for their lives.

not long ago, Catholic Bishops also penned the country’s president Lazarus Chakwera to consider providing tight security to Anti-Corruption Boss Martha Chizuma with tight Security.
